How To Write Your Follow Up Email Series
By now we should have your domain name selected, hosting account set up and your autoresponder and web form all ready to go. Now all we have to do is add some emails to send to your mailing list.
Your email follow up series is the bread and butter of your internet marketing business. You will get many of your sales and commissions from the customers you have subscribed to your list.
In this post I am going to take you through the steps of setting up your profitable follow up email series.
Topic 1 ~ Train You Subscribers
The main purpose of your emails is of course to make sales but also to train your subscribers to perform the task you want them to. For example is you may want your subscribers to click on a link or watch a promotional video.
If you want your subscribers to click on your affiliate links you are going to want to insert a clickable link in most, if not all of your emails. Even of you are delivering informative content to them you can put it into a report format and have them click on a link to download the report. If people always anticipate they have to click a link anytime they receive an email from you they will get used to it and it will increase your conversion rate.
Also, tell them what you want them to do in your email. Tell them to click on the link or to watch the video. When you you use this method properly you will see an increase in your conversions. Keep in mind that you do not want to promote more than one product or ask for more than one action in a single email to your subscribers. Your email should focus on one thing.
When outlining to your sibscribers what actions they need to perform don’t be affraid to shoe them the way…mark each step. Step 1…Step 2…etc.
Here’s The Pitch ~ Train your subscribers to expect it. Delivering good informative content to your subscribers is important but you are also trying to make money. Deliver some sort of pitch in every email so that your subscribers expect it from you. If you are giving great content to your list and all of a sudden you send them a sales pitch they will not respond in a positive manner. You will not see the conversion you want and you may also have an increase in people unsubscribing from your list.
Writing good free content is great but if you don’t include the pitch every time your have trained your list members to not expect it and you will lose their trust.
Topic 2 ~ Mailing Your List
Now you will need to determine how often you will be mailing to your list. There is no magic number. You will want to be consistant in your mailings so that your list expects it from you (back to the training again). If you mail to your list monthly and then they start receiving weekly emails you may annoy your list and see them leave your list. Determine your mailing schedule and stick to it. I would suggest emailing your subscribers at least once per week. There will be times when there are more emails in the week as special promotions come up and you want to ensure your list has every opportunity to take advantage.
You will build a relationship with your list. They will begin to like and trust you. So, keep your emails consistant in the style you are delivering your message. As your readers start to trust you, selling to them will become easier.
So that’s it for now….In the next post we will talk about how to actually write your follow up series.
Here’s to your success!
